July 20th, 2014 ~ 12:00 p.m. Whale Watch - Michelle

We hit one of our chilliest days of the summer yet today, as the temperatures dropped and we had full cloud coverage for most of the day. On our way out to check out the area we had seen whales previously, we came across a finback whale. As we watched closer, we realized that it was THREE finbacks together!

1-Bp scar

2- 3 Bp

This is something we don’t get to see very often! One of them even raised it’s tail out of the water as it dove down. After we saw our first species of the day, we traveled a little bit further until we came across a single humpback whale. This was an adult female named Freckles.

8- Freckles

She was named so because of the white markings on her dorsal fin. While Freckles was down on a dive, we also saw a minke whale in the area! This topped off our whale watch by making it a 3 species day! Thanks to everyone who came out with us!
