July 14th, 2014 ~ 12:00 p.m. Whale Watch - Tiffany

Today we only had to travel 6 miles off of Race Point Beah to find our first whales and we ended up barely changing our position the whole trip. And what a spectacular trip it was! At one point our captain estimated that there were between 15 and 20 whales in a mile radius around us! We were able to observe Tornado and calf, Milkweed and calf, Eruption and calf, Cajun, Jaburu, Pele, Apex, Firefly and Cat_Eyes.

8-0160_Tornado (Tornado’s ventral fluke pattern)

16-0578_Apex_vfl (Apex’s ventral fluke pattern)

Tornado and her calf gave us an amazing close approach! And we even had three full spinning head breaches and one chin breach during our trip.

During our time offshore we just made our way around the small area looking at different whales. All in all we had a great day watching LOTS of humpback whales!
