August 16th, 2014 ~ 12:00 p.m. Whale Watch - Michelle

Humpbacks were the name of the game on Saturday’s whale watch trip. While we didn’t see groups of humpbacks together, we did see there were a number of these whales in the area! The first whale we came to was keeping a pretty low profile. He/she would just sink down instead of raising its tail out of the water, so we still aren’t sure who this individual is.

The next whale we came to is an adult male name Mogul. Mogul has been a regular in the southern Gulf of Maine this season and was seen a number of times as well in 2013.

Mogul seemed to be on a mission as he would charge on every dive! We could see that there were a number of other whales in the area and everyone seemed to be feeding further down in the water column. We briefly got a glimpse of a mom and calf pair and then we got our last looks at another humpback that was on our way home to Provincetown. Thanks to everyone who came out today!
